Becoming baby obsessed!

I have just come up with another design perfect to adorn any baby nursery or to give as a gift for a new born baby, christening or baptism.  This baby obsession is a little worrying but I love folk style bird imagery and wanted to use it in one of my designs.....and they work so perfectly for little children.  Hope you agree.

Do you need to say thank you?

I think its time I introduced some of my greeting cards!  Amongst some of the more popular ones are my thank you cards.  Perhaps they are more in the forefront since my birthday has just passed and I sent a few of these out.  They are all blank inside so you can write your own personal message.  They're available as singles or pack of four.  You can have a mixed pack too.

More choice for baby gifts

My papercut with the quote 'The Blessedness of Being Little' has been receiving quite a lot of enquiries recently (is there a peak in births at this time of the year?).  So I decided to create a new design.  Thanks to Shakespeare for writing it!

Charity Walk for The Victoria Foundation

Sunday was a gloriously sunny day and so there was a great turnout for the 5K charity run or walk in aid of The Victoria Foundation.

The funds raised will be used to help improve many lives by funding much needed support for those living with breast cancer and accessible transport for local groups and individuals.

We walked in Wimbledon Common and in the gorgeous grounds of Cannizaro House. Here we are approaching the finish line after which we had a much needed cup of tea!

I love this quote so here we have it again!

Yes it's one of my favourite quotes from my collection of papercuts, so decided to use it again in combination with another design. Thank you Louis Armstrong.

Opening of Chiswick based art gallery

Over the weekend we went to celebrate the grand opening of an art gallery owned by our lovely friend Sandra.  She has a collection of wonderful and diverse paintings.  Please drop in and see - Sandra is very welcoming - she's also planning a series of art classes based at the gallery.  Casa del Arte is based in Chiswick very close to Turnham Green tube station.

Baptism gifts

I adapted a design for a lady who requested two papercuts.  She is attending two baptisms and purchased both of these as gifts.  I like the way the name of a child can be included within a design to make it a very personal gift.

More dog walks

This morning we woke up to a glorious blue sky.

Met up with friends in the morning to walk their dogs in Richmond Park.

And then back to the park again in late afternoon with my kids, my mum and Oscar our part-time dog.

Personalised order from Australia

Here is the personalised order I was speaking about before.  A lovely lady from Australia contacted me and asked if she could use her own words with one of my designs.  It was to give to someone she works with who has been very supportive of her and gave her a really good reference, so as a thank you she wanted to give this to her as a gift.  The quote comes from something this colleague had on a printed piece of paper on her desk.

I like the quote a lot so asked her if I could sell it to others in my shop.  Luckily she agreed! Thanks Alana!

Lots of walking weekend

Just had a really nice weekend.  Lots of walking involved.  Firstly with a dog I often go walking with - Tasha - a flat coated retriever - she belongs to a good friend.  Richmond Park is looking gorgeous.

The next day we headed off to Oxshott woods and my camera took this psychedelic

New papercut pictures

I have been working away on some new designs and one sold within a day of my putting it up in my shop.  I got quite excited about that!  Then I sold another a couple of days later.  Maybe this one will become one of my bestsellers?  Its a quote from Marvin Gaye's famous song. Here's the design:

I also have this new one.  I haven't put it up on my shop yet, but will soon:

A couple of days ago I got a request for a personalised order which I am designing right now.  Hope it turns out ok.  There's a nice story behind it which I'll tell you about later.

Lots of other exciting new things in the pipeline.  Its going to get really busy in the run up to Christmas.  Did you know there are only 14 weeks left before Christmas?

Photo from Concrete Market

Here is a photo of my (untidy) table at the Concrete Market on Sunday.  Thanks Trudi for emailing me this photo.  Hope Phoebe started school fine.  Mine started today, think I was more wobbly than them!

Concrete Market, 4th September 2011

I attended 'The Concrete Market', the first ever craft market organised by Tina of Handmade by Tobyboo.  It was held in a cozy pub in Croydon and Tina put together a wonderful mix of people selling some wonderful handmade crafts.

It was a great day in that there was a constant stream of people coming in the whole day, and people came from miles away (great marketing Tina!).  I met a few people who had come from Brighton just for this event.

I also met some lovely people exhibiting there.  Here are a few:

Lovely lady (can't remember your name although we spoke loads! with very helpful daughter Phoebe) of handmade and vintage
Saima Majid with her gorgeous cards and silk scarves which you can see at her shop
and others but I forgot to get your business cards, so please get in touch if you read this!

I also met Anna from ukhandmade who gave me some valuable advice and I look forward to meeting her soon in Guildford for a Surrey meetup.

Also there during the start were Kellie and Claire from Calladoodles who have some exciting new ideas for their shop.  I can't wait to hear more about it all.

I wish I could post some photos, but the battery in my camera ran out so am hoping the lovely lady from handmade and vintage who took some pics will be in touch soon!
