Northern sunsets

Last weekend we made a quick trip to Northumberland.  Our last visit a couple of months ago resulted in seeing some of the most fantastic rainbows (see earlier blog on this).  This time the skies put on another show - the most amazing clouds at sunset.  I took hundreds of photos - many of which came out blurry (I blame the driver!).  These are some of the best photos:

My favourite postbox

How lovely is the postbox!  It sits just outside of Ham Gate of Richmond Park.  I love the way it sits discreetly on this gate pillar with the old sign stating miles and yardage to all the other gates in the park.  Lucky postman who has to collect from this every day!  However, I wish the British Gas sign was taken away....it really spoils the aesthetics of the the original build.

Mothers Day Designs

Mothers Day (in the UK) is March 18th, and I have just received an order from the world's most organised person.  Thought I would share the designs here with you.  Hope you like them.

More about London

This weekend we made a trip to the Southbank with our neighbours.  Loads of us - 6 of them and 4 of us.  We went for a ride on the London Eye.  Because of other commitments, we were only able to meet at 3pm.  Travel was delayed even further when we got stuck on the train (snow on the tracks??) so by the time we actually got on to the Eye, it was around 4.30pm and we were getting worried that we had left it too late.  But this was one of those good fated days - we timed it so perfectly that we were able to watch the stunning scene of the sun setting behind Houses of Parliament and took loads of photos with lots of 'orange' in the sky.  I have to credit the first photo (because I promised!) to our neighbours son Thomas - fantastic photo!!

Mickey Mouse was also hanging around Southbank that evening.  And I couldn't resist taking the photo of this shop on St.Gabriels Wharf - the whole shop, inside and out was painted in this gorgeous warm pink - we (that is all the girls) were wowed by it.

Why I love living where I live

More snow last night and this time I remembered to photograph it. My friday morning routine is to join a few friends for a early walk with their dogs. This morning we had a bonus of walking in beautiful Richmond Park covered in snow. I sometimes can't believe I live in London! It was spectacular!

Cushions, cushions, cushions

I got a bit carried away and bought a whole range of new cushions for our living room.  I scoured Etsy and found Linda who runs her shop Lindylou2.  Linda was amazing!  She has a lovely range of fabrics and can also put you in touch with other designs if you ask.  She helped with every question I had and I finally chose a few fabrics that I liked (with the help of my daughter of course).  Linda made them all up in a flash and I only had to wait a few days for them to arrive from Austin, Texas!

Anyhow, I am really pleased!  I bought new inserts too so now I have some very bouncy cushions which allows me to continue being a couch potato!
